The Grand Hotel was built in 1890, and soon became a favorite stopover for travelers on the Great Northern Railway; its saloon was the meeting place for sheep and cattle ranchers come to town on business. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Grand was restored in 1985 and bought by Larry Edwards in 1994. The high-ceiling, sunny guest rooms have views of the Crazy Mountains and are decorated in western Victorian style. Breakfast is served beginning at 8 a.m. in the main dining room. Dinner options range from burgers, steak, and pan-fried trout in the old-fashioned saloon, for such entrees as salmon en croute, pork medallions in Marsala with garlic mashed potatoes, and chicken with wild mushrooms and balsamic vinegar in the restaurant.
"Rooms are decorated with lots of wonderful antiques; as an antique dealer, I
would have liked to bring many of them home with me. We peeked into several rooms, and all
were delightful. Superb dining, creative dinner menu; great, huge breakfast." (Karla
Diehl)
