JOHN KIRBY's ANCIENT MARINER GUIDE SERVICE, LLC --
FLYFISHING & LIGHT TACKLE OUTFITTER
"A Cast Beyond the Ordinary..."

We are dedicated to the belief that there is more to fishing the great waters of Montana than just wetting a line. Indeed, the great fishermen with whom we have fished always seemed to be a cast beyond the ordinary. To them, the essence of flyfishing was much greater than time spent in the boat, total fish released, and the many other arbitrary standards so prevalent in today's competitive world. They felt, as we do, that there is a philosophical thread that binds a flyfisher to his environment -- unique settings under the Big Sky and an appreciation and understanding of the flora, fauna, and geology here in this, the last best place.

The Boulder River flows North from the Beartooth Absaroka Wilderness Area and enters the Yellowstone River at Big Timber.  Notorious for glaciated rubble ("bowling balls") covered w/ slick algae, it fishes best from a raft in early July.  However, we do have permission to fish a number of private ranches in the area.
